Queen Anne’s County Wins Big at Maryland Tourism & Travel Summit

Queen Anne’s County Economic and Tourism Development were the recipient of the Best Digital Campaign Award at the Maryland Tourism & Travel Summit for their Crabs n’ Crushes campaign. The award was announced at the Maryland Tourism & Travel Summit Awards Banquet on November 9th in Owings Mills. Entries were judged on the creative and unique use of digital media integrated with advertising creative.

The campaign ran from spring though the fall of 2023 and highlighted destinations in Queen Anne’s County that served up crabs and orange crushes, a drink that originated in Maryland and is a signature summer drink of the region. It included the development of a website – crabsncrushes.com, along with digital ad placements, a social media campaign, print advertising, interactive billboards, video, a branded trade show display, merchandise, postcards, and giveaways.

“Queen Anne’s County is home to 414 miles of shoreline featuring a myriad of waterfront restaurants, marinas and dock bars where hot crabs and cold crushes are on the menu,” says April Plummer, Marketing and Destination Development Specialist for Queen Anne’s County. “We focused on developing a campaign that authentically captured a quintessential Chesapeake experience that visitors to our county will have.”

In addition to the Best Digital Campaign Award, the office was also the recipient of the best Cooperative Partnership as part of the Chesapeake Country All American Road Byway Alliance.

“We are committed to promoting all that Queen Anne’s County has to offer as a tourism destination in creative and inspired ways,” says Heather Tinelli, Director of Queen Anne’s County Economic and Tourism Development. “Crabs n’ Crushes and the Chesapeake Country All American Road Byway are just two examples of our efforts to market our county as a leading destination, and we are honored to be recognized as the recipient of these awards.”

The Maryland Travel and Tourism Summit was attended by more than 300 tourism professionals from the state. The event is sponsored and managed by the Maryland Tourism Coalition and also offers professional development seminars, networking events and opportunities for individuals to learn from experts and industry leaders on how best to incorporate innovative strategies to benefit Maryland.
