Family Friendly Attractions in Queen Anne’s County!
Explore the outdoors at CBEC, a 510-acre nature center located in Grasonville, MD offering adventure-based learning that contributes to the conservation of the Chesapeake Bay. We suggest trying out the CBEC GPS Adventure. This individual and family learning adventure allows participants to use GPS skills to follow a course adventuring through the grounds of the nature center. Participants may choose from multiple themed course topics, learning along the way! Each course is tailored to different learning levels. You will get the chance to solve puzzles and mazes, while testing your navigational skills. This program combines the fun of games, escape rooms, treasure hunts, obstacle courses, and geocaching! Courses available for kids age 2nd grade to 12th grade.
CBEC also has much to offer the water enthusiast! With their ideal location on a peninsula, they offer visitors kayak and stand up paddle board rentals to glide around Marshy Creek and enjoy the serenity of the Bay. The property is amazingly biodiverse– from ospreys and eagles to river otters and sting rays–you’re sure to spot a variety of wildlife on your paddling excursion. Don’t forget your binoculars and camera! Guided kayak tours are also available.
Grab your bikes or lace up your walking shoes and enjoy the view while exploring Kent Island’s family friendly Cross Island Trail. Once the rail corridor through Kent Island, this 7 mile protected trail spans from Terrapin Nature Park to the Kent Narrows Waterfront wandering through farmlands, meadows, and woods accented with ornamental trees. Flanked by park benches, the trail crosses several creeks with wooden bridges, offering a spectacular view of waterfowl and wetlands.
