QAC Independence Day Fireworks

Queen Anne’s County Independence Day Celebration is set for July 1, 2026. This annual local event provides a promising and unforgettable experience for families and friends in the heart of Kent Narrows at the Chesapeake Heritage and Visitors Center. Mark your calendars for Wednesday, July 1, 2026, with a rain date scheduled for Thursday, July 2, 2026.
This year’s event will once again be hosted on the lawn next to the visitor’s center, offering the perfect setting for a celebration. Attendees are encouraged to bring their chairs or blankets and enjoy the complimentary family activities. The evening will conclude with the much-anticipated fireworks display.
Event Details:
- Date: Wednesday, July 1, 2026, with a rain date of Thursday, July 2, 2026
- Time:
- Parking opens at 5:30 pm
- Shuttle service starts at 6:00 pm
- Family fun activities commence at 6:00 pm
- Fireworks display at 9:15 pm
- Location: 425 Piney Narrows Road, Chester MD
Food and Entertainment:
- Food trucks will be on-site, offering food and snacks for purchase. (Note: Alcohol is not permitted on county property.) Food choices will include a variety of options from hotdogs to funnel cakes.
- Free family activities include face painting, a photo booth, and bounce houses for children.
- Musical performance by Southland
Parking and Shuttle Information:
- Free parking is available at the “old outlets” located at 59 Piney Narrows Road in Chester, starting at 5:00 pm.
- Handicap parking and a complimentary shuttle service will be provided for attendees’ convenience.
Important Notes:
- The Chesapeake Heritage and Visitors Center parking lot as well as Ferry Point Park will be closed at sunset on Tuesday June 30th and will reopen on Thursday, July 2 unless the rain date is used.
- The Queen Anne’s County Office of the Sheriff will implement detours; visit queenannessheriff.org for more information.
ADDITIONAL PARKING
Queen Anne’s County is pleased to offer additional parking and complimentary shuttle service for this year’s Fireworks Celebration at Kent Narrows on July 1.
Family fun activities begin at 6:00 p.m., with fireworks scheduled to begin at approximately 9:15 p.m.
Additional Parking Has Been added at Kent Island High School and Grasonville Elementary School. Parking availability at the Old Outlets is more limited than in previous years. With attendance expected to be higher than ever, attendees are encouraged to take advantage of the complimentary satellite parking and shuttle service to ensure smooth arrival and departure experience.
Designated accessible parking and limited general parking will also remain available at the Old Kent Narrows Outlets event site on a first-come, first-served basis although we expect the general parking to fill up fast. We encourage all guests to use the additional parking areas!
All parking areas will open at 5:30 p.m., with shuttle buses providing continuous transportation to and from the event throughout the evening.
