Travelin’ troubadors from England bringing the finest o’ sea shantys and songs of the grog, grot and grime

The Captain’s Beard are a celtic folk rock group from Brighton, (the drinking town with a fishing problem.) Their songs have the folk energy of Flogging Molly and the Pogues mixed with the comedy of Tenacious D. Expect songs about beards and inappropriate mermaids. They also perform traditional Irish folk music with tight harmony singing. Their version of “John Kanakanaka” has received over two and a half million streams on Spotify and will be featuring in the movie “Operation Taco Garys” later this year.

They have played over a thousand gigs and travelled from the highlands of Scotland down to the lowlands of Germany. They’ve given lavish performances at Alexandra Palace and sung for quaint little family festivals. But wherever they play they bring an exuberant and energetic show with immaculate harmonies.

Their last two albums “Same Ship Different Day” and “Completely Tankard” garner tens of thousands of listeners every month on streaming platforms and their third album “Cannonballs Deep” is set for release in mid May.

The Bards are kicked 2024 with a new original album, Tales from the Swindling Serpent! Join The Bards live in concert at Cult Classic Brewing as they take you on a musical journey featuring orchestral elements, strong three-part harmonies, and their signature progressive folk and storytelling styles. The Bards will also perform covers from across the decades, including bands like The Rolling Stones, Queen, Panic! at the Disco, and more, along with Irish folk and drinking tunes.
