Kent Island Yacht Club’s quarterly Tide and Table Talks speaker series will bring together three perspectives on the Chesapeake Bay’s oysters for “The Chesapeake Oyster: Heritage, Habitat, and Hope” on Saturday, Nov. 14, from 4 to 7 p.m. at 117 Yacht Club Drive in Chester.

The series pairs elevated dining with conversations exploring the Chesapeake Bay’s culture, history, and stewardship, connecting members and guests with regional leaders.

The Nov. 14 event will feature presentations from Peer to Pier, Oyster Recovery Partnership, and Harris Seafood, followed by a meal featuring creative, chef-inspired oyster dishes. A portion of ticket sales will benefit Oyster Recovery Partnership.

The program will explore how shoreline stewardship, restoration science, and the seafood industry contribute to the Chesapeake oyster’s future.

Peer to Pier will share how a grassroots network helps waterfront homeowners, businesses, and community piers establish oyster-growing environments. The presentation will connect private shoreline stewardship with broader efforts to restore the Bay.

Oyster Recovery Partnership will discuss the science and progress behind large-scale Chesapeake oyster restoration, including hatcheries, shell recycling, sanctuary reefs, and public fishery reefs.

Harris Seafood will offer a firsthand look at the oyster’s journey from harvest to market, sharing the perspective of one of the region’s remaining packing houses and the people who help sustain the Chesapeake’s working waterfront.

Doors will open at 4 p.m. for a social hour, with complimentary champagne upon arrival and a cash bar available. Featured speakers will present from 5 to 6 p.m., followed by dinner from 6 to 7 p.m. The menu will include oyster dishes, sides, and an alternative for guests who prefer a non-oyster meal.

Tickets are $40 for Kent Island Yacht Club members and $50 for nonmembers. Seating is limited, attire is casual, and tickets are nonrefundable.
