250 Years of Black History in Queen Anne’s County!
Opening on Juneteenth, this powerful new exhibit traces the journey of African Americans in Queen Anne’s County from the arrival of the first Africans in 1631 through the Revolutionary War, the fight for freedom, the rise of Black churches and schools, the legacy of Kennard High School, and the preservation of Black history today.
Through compelling stories of resilience, courage, faith, education, and community leadership, 250 Years of Black History in QAC honors the people and places that shaped the county and left an enduring impact on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.
Join us as we celebrate 250 years of Black history, heritage, and achievement in Queen Anne’s County.
Opening 06/19/2026 at the Kennard African American Cultural Heritage Center.
